1930s foyer, bedroom chandelier by Virden
1 in stock
I’m very pleased to offer a delightful 3-bulb chandelier by the famous VIRDEN Company, and from their WINTHROP line!
The VIRDEN Company
The John C. Virden Company was Canadian-based, at 19 Curity Ave in Toronto. They also had a US presence at 6103 Longfellow Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. You can Google search the latter, and “stand” in front of the massive brick factory. It is now long abandoned, and its countless widows broken. But it wasn’t that long ago that this factory – like countless such factories across America – was teeming with life, and supporting millions of families. This, back when America actually made stuff.
I have other Winthrop fixtures listed, including 5-bulb fixtures and sconces. I also have additional fixtures in stock, so juts let me know your needs.
The Winthrop series was first offered in the 1930s, and was very popular.
The fixture retains its rich original polychrome of deep burnished gold, and with accents of jade and red. Stunning!
Scale-wise, the fixture is ideal for a foyer or smaller bedroom.
I love the triangular body. Just lovely and distinctive.
Wholly restored and with new wiring, this fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixtures accept 60W bulbs or lower (not included).
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: The chandelier hangs down 27-inches (not including bulbs). I can remove up to 9-inches of chain. I can add chain. The fixture is 10-1/2-inches wide.
- I love writing this: there’s no damage.
- All the wiring is new. The vertical wire on the chandelier is cloth-covered.
- The sockets are original (and in fine shape).
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
