1930s (?) porcelain bathroom sconces by Efcolite. PAIR

1 in stock

I’m very pleased to offer rare PAIR of porcelain sconces by Efcolite!

This is the first time I’ve offered these sconces.

The sconces have several unusual features. First, they are large. I’ve never had porcelain sconces quite this scale before. They are 8-inches high (without bulbs). Nice. Even the socket housings are kinda beefy.

The simple lines are really attractive.

The sconces have really nice on/off switches that you push rather than pull. Cool.

I like, too, that the glazing is all crackled (see second-to-last image). I don’t know if this is an original effect or age-related. I do think it’s attractive.
(One sconce has some age spotting at the bottom; see last image.)

Another interesting thing is that the sconces have no electrical outlets. That is very unusual for porcelain sconces.

I’m uncertain as to their age. They might be late 1930s. Perhaps 1940s. Or early 1950s.

Wholly restored and with new wiring, this set is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!

DETAILS: The fixtures accept standard base 60W bulbs. I show appliance bulbs.
COLOR: Off white.
SIZE: See above. As well, the sconces are 4-1/4-inch wide.

  • I love writing this: there are no chips or cracks.
  • The glazing, as noted, is wholly crackled. This may be an original effect. Also, there are some subtle age spots, mostly to the bottom of one sconce (see last image).
  • The sockets are original (and in fine shape) with new wiring and paper insulators.

SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE! Yippee!
