Description

I’m very pleased to offer this exceedingly rare, and stunning, circa-1950 ceiling fixture by the famous Porcelier Company!

For many decades, Porcelier made some of the finest lighting fixtures and house wares (they closed in 1954). There’s a book on their work:
Collector’s Guide to Porcelier China
By Susan E. Grindberg

This fixture is incredibly rare, and is the first I have ever offered. Most Porcelier ceiling lights have heavy, thick glass shades. But around 1950 the company decided to update their wares, and began offering slumped glass shades, as seen here. However, all the other components remained the same. As a Porcelier expert, I am just dazzled to have found an all-original, fully intact, undamaged fixture such as this. Wow. I think the fixture should be in a museum.

The shade has gorgeous, luscious floral designs.

Under the shade is a thick glass square. Love it. It is remarkable that this piece, in particular, is still in situ.

The finial is hand-blown and distinctive to Porcelier. It looks like a miniature tornado. Love it. Love it!

The ceiling mount is porcelain, and has leaves in relief.

The shade is 16-wide, and the fixture is but 7-inches high overall.

There are three sockets, and each accepts a 75W bulb.

PORCELIER MANIA?
For a long time I’ve had a dream. One day (cue dramatic music) a buyer will contact me. They, too, love love love Porcelier, and wonder if their whole house could be filled with nothing but Porcelier fixtures. I gasp! And reply: Why yes! Please just click here: PORCELIER
