Description

I’m very pleased to offer this remarkable oh-so-Mod 1970s chandelier!

Have you ever seen anything like it?

The chandelier is in the bentwood-style, which was all the rage in the 1970s. However, the fixture is not actually bent wood. It is molded plastic! Well, it was the 70s. I thought it was bent wood until realizing that there were no visible wires (save the vertical wire). How, I wondered, did they get the wires inside wood arms? Then it occurred to me: the whole was molded plastic, and with hollow arms. The fixture looks like wood, hence my belated realization. In any event, I liked the fixture even better knowing its true composition. Kinda cool. Very 1970s.

There are five clear glass globes, and these sit in silver dishes.

The fixture is on the large-ish side. It is 22-wide, and the main body is 20-long. The length overall is 33-long. This can be adjusted up/down.

So, if you’ve been looking for the perfect chandelier to complete your Jonathan Adler-inspired retro interior, then this chandelier may be ideal.

NOTE: a shag rug under the chandelier will be a must. Orange, perhaps.

This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!

DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs.

COLOR: See above.

SIZE: See above. As well, I can remove up to 9-inches of chain; I can add chain.

CONDITION:

  • I love writing this: there’s no damage.
  • The sockets and their wiring are original (and all in fine shape). I replaced the vertical wire with a new, clear plastic wire.
  • I am uncertain as to the finish of the silver parts. I do not think they are chrome. They are certainly not silver-plate. They show some subtle spotting, and subtle tonal irregularity.

SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
