I am pleased to offer this astonishing, magnificent, incredibly rare, and amazingly beautiful 1950s chandelier by the famous Lightolier Company!
ABOUT LIGHTOLIER
Beginning in the 1920s, and for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company (extant today of course) made some of the very finest fixtures. Their designs were always simply dazzling, and the quality was the very very very best. When you restore vintage lights such as I do, these aspects are so obvious they tend to jump out. It’s always a particular pleasure restoring a Lightolier!

LIGHTOLIER
Above all, this is a large fixture – a whopping 28-inches wide. Almost all my fixtures are 18-inches or less, so this 8-arm beauty is truly imposing.
For some time I’ve had the 1950s catalog showing the chandelier (second image). I lusted after one, but despaired of ever finding such a vision. Imagine my elation to discover one at long last! In incredible condition, too, and with all its original components intact, including the ceiling canopy with an original Lightolier sticker inside! My heart was (and still is) pounding! (I would keep the chandelier but simply don’t have rooms large enough. My house is, tragically, cottage scaled.)
I don’t have an original price list, but the cost of this huge, quality fixture must have been heart-stopping! It still is!
The fixture has been fully rewired, and the exposed wire is cloth covered like the original.
If you’ve been seeking a very large Eames-era chandelier to make THE perfect, dazzling statement, then this fixture may be ideal. It just don’t get any better.
Wholly restored and with new wiring, this fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixture accepts eight standard base 60W bulbs.

SIZE: Again, the fixture is a whopping 28-inches wide. It is 35-inches long. I can remove up to 8-inches of chain. I can add chain.
CONDITION:
- Amazingly, there’s not a chip or crack to any of the glass.
- The sockets are original (and in fine shape) with new wiring and paper insulators.
- The white cardboard candle covers are new.
- The brass retains its original protective lacquer. Where air has gotten behind this (this is normal for vintage lacquer), there are some small age spots to the brass (age spots are just patina). The lacquer could be stripped, and all the brass re-polished, but I don’t have the facilities to do a factory-baked lacquer. Moreover, this seems unnecessary. As the images show, the brass looks quite well. You have to be looking very close to spot any patina issues.
