1940s red kitchen by Lightolier
1 in stock
I’m very pleased to offer this astonishing 1940s red ceiling fixture by the incomparable Lightolier Company!
Beginning in the 1920s, and for many decades thereafter, the Lightolier Company (extant today of course) made some of the very finest fixtures. Their designs were always simply dazzling, and the quality was the very very very best. When you restore vintage lights such as I do, these aspects are so obvious they tend to jump out. It’s always a particular pleasure restoring a Lightolier!
This is the first time I’ve ever offered this remarkable fixture. Indeed, it’s the first time I’ve even seen the fixture! For many years all I had was a catalog drawing. I wasn’t sure the fixture was even put in production.
But…it was. It was!
The glass shade is frosted glass, clear glass, and red! And wonderfully detailed.
Above the shade is an astonishing glass globe in frosted glass and red!
The metal components above the glass are painted a shade of red distinctive to the late 1930s and 1940s, a kinda blend between red and salmon.
The fixture was offered as a kitchen fixture but would incredible, too, in a foyer or small bedroom.
With new wiring, this fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixture accepts one standard base 75W bulb (not included).
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: See above. The fixture hangs down about 18-1/2-inches and is 13-1/2-inches wide. I can remove up to 4-1/2-inches of chain; I can add chain.
- I love writing this: there’s no damage.
- The glass shade and glass globe have some straw marks (a manufacturing byproduct).
- The porcelain socket is original with new wiring.
- The metal components have been refinished. The reddish color was computer matched to the original.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
