1940s chandelier by Markel

1 in stock

I’m very pleased to offer this wonderful late 1940s chandelier by Markel!

Markel first introduced this shade in the 1930s. Over the ensuing years Markel offered numerous iterations (chandeliers, surface-mounted, X finial, Y finial, X vase, Y vase, and so on). I believe this is the final iteration of the fixture.

The shade, distinctive finial, glass vase, glass flourish, and canopy are all original. Only the chain is new (the original was corroded; this is common).

The sockets and wiring are all new. The vertical wire is cloth-covered like the original. Nice.

The canopy has been refinished in the original ivory.

The color of the shade is distinctive, a kinda apricot.

This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!

DETAILS: The fixture accepts three standard base 60W bulbs (not included).
COLOR: See above.
SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 29-1/2-inches and is 16-inches wide. I can remove up to 9-inches of chain; I can add chain.
I love writing this: there’s no damage.
The porcelain sockets and wiring are new.
The finish of the shade has some subtle age spotting.
The original chain was corroded (this is common). The new chain precisely matches the original in terms of scale and shape.
The canopy, and a small spacer, have been refinished in the original ivory color.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
