1930s aluminum Moderne chandelier
1 in stock
I’m very pleased to offer this wonderful 1930s Moderne aluminum chandelier!
Moderne is an aesthetic that developed after the Art Deco period. This aesthetic was relatively short lived, and reached the height of its popularity in the late 1930s. Emerald City, in the movie Wizard of Oz, is Moderne gone Hollywood. Many lighting fixtures labeled Art Deco are more accurately Moderne.
The fixture is designed to throw all the illumination UP, to bounce off the ceiling, resulting in a highly flattering, diffused quality of light.
While the shade is simple there’s a wonderful gold flourish on the bottom.
All the wiring is new, and cloth-covered like the original. Nice.
Wholly restored and with new sockets and wiring, this fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 75W bulbs (not included).
COLOR: Aluminum. Gold.
SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 29-inches and is almost 16-inches wide. I can remove up to 16-inches of chain; I can add chain.
- There is a small area of subtle dimpling to the upper edge of the aluminum shade (see last image). The shade also has some subtle scuffs and subtle variation of tone; this is typical for vintage aluminum.
- The porcelain sockets and wiring are new.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
