1930 Virden Winthrop fixture

1 in stock

I’m very pleased to offer a 1930s 2-bulb ceiling fixture!

The fixture is by the famous Virden Company, and from their WINTHROP line!
The John C. Virden Company was Canadian-based, at 19 Curity Ave in Toronto. They also had a US presence at 6103 Longfellow Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. You can Google search the latter, and “stand” in front of the massive brick factory. It is now long abandoned, and its countless widows broken. But it wasn’t that long ago that this factory – like countless such factories across America – was teeming with life, and supporting millions of families. This, back when America actually made stuff.

The fixture was produced in the late 1920s and 1930s.

Made of cast aluminum, the fixture retains its rich original polychrome in almost mint condition. Stunning!

The fixture also retains its original mounting finial. Nice.

All the wiring is new.

I normally have listed other fixtures from Virden’s Winthrop series, including 3- and 5-bulb fixtures (including chandeliers) and wall sconces. So if you need additional fixtures just let me know!

This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!

DETAILS: The fixture accepts standard base 60W bulbs (not included).
COLOR: A dark gold, and with subtle accents of jade and red.
SIZE: The fixture is 12×6-1/2-inches wide, and hangs down 2-1/2-inches (without bulbs).

  • I love writing this: there’s no damage. Indeed, the fixture looks incredible.
  • The sockets are original (and in fine shape) with new wiring.

SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
