1930 Dog’s Head fixture by Virden
1 in stock
I’m very pleased to offer this 1930s “dog’s head” foyer fixture by Virden!
The VIRDEN Company
The John C. Virden Company was Canadian-based, at 19 Curity Ave in Toronto. They also had a US presence at 6103 Longfellow Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. You can Google search the latter, and “stand” in front of the massive brick factory. It is now long abandoned, and its countless widows broken. But it wasn’t that long ago that this factory – like countless such factories across America – was teeming with life, and supporting millions of families. This, back when America actually made stuff.
There are two doggies sitting on the “floor”!
Besides the dogs, the fixture is wonderful in that it retains all its original parts: the finial, shade, chain (distinctive), and ceiling canopy!
The wiring is new, and cloth-covered like the original. Nice.
I normally carry companion fixtures from this Virden set. If you cannot find them just contact me.
This fixture is ready to hang, and comes with all the mounting hardware needed!
DETAILS: The fixture accepts one standard base 60W bulb (not included).
COLOR: Silvery. Brass with patina.
SIZE: The fixture hangs down about 30-inches and is 8-inches wide. I can remove up to 10-1/2-inches of chain; I can add chain.
- I love writing this: there’s no damage.
- The socket is original (and in fine shape) with new wiring and paper insulator.
SHIPPING: Insured shipping in the Continental US will be…FREE!
